We have! We have our own well close to military training grounds and airport where for decades they have practiced firefighting etc. The result is that fire foam has leaked into groundwater, streams and rivers.

What is PFAS
PFAS substances have been created to repel grease, dirt and water. Today there are thousands of different PFAS substances on the market. They are found, among other things, in frying pans, functional clothing, shoes, furniture fabrics, ski wax , food packaging , fire foam, impregnation sprays, pesticides and beauty products .
Are PFAS dangerous to health?
Population studies in humans show a link between exposure to certain PFAS substances and poorer vaccine responses in children , liver damage, elevated levels of blood fats, intestinal diseases and thyroid disorders. The two best-known PFAS substances PFOS and PFOA are also suspected carcinogens and can have negative effects on reproduction. What levels one is exposed to, when in life, and for how long, is believed to play a decisive role. But of the thousands of PFASs on the market, the vast majority of PFASs are still completely untested.

The entire western part of Halmstad has PFAS in the water, even the municipal water, and this is very difficult to clean. Filters that exist are quite slow and apparently get full very quickly so they are no longer useful.
From 2026, the maximum permitted limit will be 4 ng/l.
To help with this, I tested a pitcher with a filter called ZERO filter that claimed to clean from PFAS. I took water samples at the same time both before and after filtration and could (a little surprised) state that the filter actually filtered out all PFAS. The unfiltered water contained 9.2 ng/l and it did not filter anything at all.
