You may have been advised to follow a so-called low FODMAP* diet. It can be difficult to follow such a diet in the long run as it is very restrictive. In addition, it is not a long-term solution to always avoid these products. You want to strengthen your gut and digestion so that it can break down these products. FODATE and its enzymes support the breakdown of precisely the fibers found in FODMAP foods. In this way, you can actually eat foods with higher FODMAPs without having problems and in this way feed your intestinal bacteria with all these good substances that those products have, even though you right now can't eat them without getting sick. FODMATE is not something you should take forever, but see it as a period of 1-3 months at the same time as you work on strengthening your gut health in other ways and that you can then also give the gut a good variety and not be so limited. Colleagues in the USA report very satisfied customers with this product, but it is brand new in Sweden so have not had time to receive any reports yet.
*(FODMAP is an abbreviation of the words Fermentable, Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides and Polyols (sugar alcohols in English). The fact that the carbohydrates are fermentable (fermentable) means that for the person with IBS, they are poorly absorbed by the intestine, which in turn affects fluid balance.
The FODMAP dietary treatment means that foods with fermentable carbohydrates are completely excluded from the diet, and then added one by one. Therefore, FODMAPs are also divided into four categories:
- Fructose – fruit sugar found in honey, fruits and vegetables.
- Lactose – milk sugar found in dairy products.
- Oligosaccharides – dietary fibers found in, for example, legumes, onions and cereals.
- Sugar alcohols – sweeteners found in, for example, sugar-free chewing gum.
All four groups behave in a similar way in the gut. The molecules are small and therefore absorbed poorly or not at all. Instead, they draw water into the intestine. In addition, the carbohydrates ferment and create gas and bloating. Overall, this increases the volume of the intestinal contents, stretches the intestinal wall and stimulates the nerves in the intestine.
For whom : Sensitive to products high in FODMAPs. If you know certain foods make you gassy, bloated and in pain. Taken for a period while strengthening other intestinal health.
